A character portrait, one of the series I gave as Christmas gifts to friends in 2023.
This one was an experiment in lighting effects. It was a battle, and one I’m not sure I won.
Some of my favourite parts of this piece are the subtle textures, captured by using layers of sepia acrylic ink to establish values and then watercolours on top:
